Head to Head – Panasonic GH4 vs. Sony A7S Video

Daniel Watson from learning cameras recently published a head to head video comparison of the Panasonic GH4 and the Sony A7S cameras – concentrating on the video shooting aspects of these new cameras.

The Sony A7S and the Panasonic GH4  are two very different cameras but both have a 4K recording capabilities (although the A7S requires an external recorder

Although the A7S definitely wins the sensitivity battle hands down – if you are a video shooter there seems to be more advantages for the GH4 in terms of functionality, lens selection and of course the price which is significantly cheaper on the GH4 (especially if you consider the price of the external reorder).

At the end of the day it boils down to what type of shooter you are and what are your priorities and if high ISO performance isn’t very (very) high on your list the GH4 is most probably your best option.

We already covered the Panasonic GH4 quite extensively in the past on several videos (see here) and had a quick look at the A7S when it was first announced (as well as a quick look at the Atomos Shogun external 4K recorder mentioned on this video).
