How to Make Your Own Low Budget DIY Cable Cam

If you ever wanted to have your own cable cam system but the price was simply too high, the good people at Syrp from New Zealand who are making the Genie cable cam unit just published a video showing a DIY project to let you create one for a low budget.

In many situations the only way to make a shot is to use a cable cam – a device which allows a camera to be moved in a straight line over a long distance in the air (sometimes high above the ground). The entire shopping list for this project (minus the Genie itself which cost just under $900) was about $130 and you can find the full list here.

Genie is a unique project which started on Kickstarter a few years ago and created a device used for motion control and image capture for Time Lapse Photography and real time video which you can see below.
