How to Power Your Canon DSLR for a Full Day for Under $150

On this video, photographer, and videographer Caleb Pike from DSLR Video Shooter takes a look at an inexpensive solution for powering your Canon DSLR for a really long time for extended video shooting.

Anybody who ever shot long videos on DSLR knows how important batteries are. From our own experience shooting long interviews on Photokina in recent years, we can testify that even with a grip and a spear set of batteries we ended up with not enough juice for a full day, so a solution that can really extend your battery life can be really important.

The unit Pike is referring to can be found on e-bay for under $100 (depending on the specific version), you would of course need extra Sony NP-F970 batteries (if you don’t have them) – they run as low as $17 (you will also need a charger – this dual one cost $25).

The full solution can run you under $150 – it might not be very nice looking or have the amazing build quality, but if you need something that works – it could be a pretty good low-cost solution.
