Aaron Huey: Revisiting the Land of Songs

Seattle based photojournalist and documentary photographer for National Geographic Aaron Huey, traveled back to Svanetia, a remote region of Georgia, to revisit the people and the places that inspired his future career – this is his story.

Anthropological photography is nothing new, it has been going on since the early days of the camera, however there are always new things to look for, cultures, languages, old traditions and more things to discover. On this NG video, Huey visits his adopted Georgian family, he re-reads journals full of recipes, songs, and vocabulary he learned on his first visit, capture moments of his old family as they  sing in the kitchen and some of the authentic culture of Svanetia.
