Benjamin Von Wong: Superheroes on Skyscrapers

One of our favourite photographers and our colleague Benjamin Von Wong published a breathtaking behind the scenes look at a recent collaboration he did with the guys from SmugMug.

For this project Von Wong decided that he would like to shoot the guys from SmugMug as superheros. He didn’t want just any old plain superhero shot he wanted something special, something spectacular – and so he decided to go up – way up. He and his team found a skyscraper where they could go up 40 stories and shoot their superheros looking down with the view of the Market Street in San Francisco from above.

Shooting people from a tall building isn’t anything new – but the position of the camera in this case (hanging above and outside the building using a long boom) is what really gives these images the special look. Although everybody was secure to the building when standing on the ledge the experience is definitely frightening and even if you are not afraid of heights looking down is not really recommended.

We highly recommend that you go and check some of the other images and info of this project on Von Wong’s website.

As we have noted ,we love Benjamin Von Wong’s creative spirit and you can watch some older videos of  his here on LensVid. As always, you can find many more behind the scenes videos on the BTS section here on LensVid.
