California based filmmaker and photographer Michael Shainblum has been working on Timelapse photography for years all across the U.S.. In his most recent project called “Mirror City” he wanted to emulate the view of an urban landscapes in a way that nobody has even seen before. According to Shainblum the idea was to put man-made geometric shapes, mixed with elements of color and movement to create less of a structured video, and more of a plethora of visual stimulation which combines a Timelapse with the simplicity of a kaleidoscope.
The cities that you see in this video include Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Shainblum explains that the video actually starts off with simple mirrors and recognizable architecture and as the video progresses, so does the visual stimulation, showing the real abstraction of the piece.
