Last Thursday Adobe Systems announced that it was the victim of sophisticated cyber attacks in which the attackers accessed data belonging to 2.9 million customers along with source code to some of its proprietary software.
Brad Arkin, Chief Security Officer for Adobe Systems stated that the company believes the attackers accessed Adobe customer IDs and encrypted passwords and removed data relating to almost 3 million of Adobe’s customers. This information included customer names, encrypted credit and debit card numbers, expiration dates and information relating to orders.
Adobe also said that it is investigating the illegal access to source code of numerous Adobe products. Based on current findings , the company is not aware of any specific increased risk to customers as a result of this incident. Adobe also mentioned that in case your information was involved in this incident – you will receive a notification letter from Adobe with additional information on steps you can take to help protect yourself against potential misuse of personal information about you. Adobe is also offering customers, whose credit or debit card information was involved, the option of enrolling in a one-year complimentary credit monitoring membership where available.
