Photographer Steve Perry (from backcountrygallery) recently published one of the most informative videos on perspective that we have seen in a long long time.
Perspective in photography is something that a lot of photographers might be aware of on one level or another but not everybody really think about it enough. What Perry demonstrates in this video and the reason it is so important in our opinion is that it demonstrates very clearly how perspective (and field of view) really works, and how different lenses affect them.
Understanding field of view and perspective and how they influence your image (especially in landscape photography) can have a huge impact on the way you shoot and being able to get the image that you want as well as picking the right tools (i.e. lenses) for your shoot.
We had to watch this video twice to really let everything sink in – if you are new to this topic watch the demonstrations a few times and go outside and test it for yourself – it could be one of the most valuable lessons you see online in a long time.
