First Hands on with the Canon EOS M10, PowerShot G9 X and PowerShot G5 X Cameras

Earlier today Canon introduced 3 new cameras and one lens – two of those are from the G X compact cameras series and one is an entry level EOS M mirrorless camera. In the video above Jon from Wex heads to Canon HQ in the UK to discuss the EOS M10, the PowerShot G9X; and the PowerShot G5X.

Here is some info on the 3 new cameras starting from the EOS M10 which is an entry level camera which will sit below the EOS M3 in the current line of Canon mirrorless cameras.

Here is a partial specs list of the EOS M10 camera:

  • 18 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor.
  • 100 to 12,800 ISO (with 25,600 ISO as boost).
  • Hybrid CMOS AF II.
  • DIGIC 6 Image Processor.
  • 1080p 30p video recording.
  • Continuous shooting speed – 4.6fps
  • 3″ touch LCD with 1040k dots.
  • Built in WIFI/NFC.
  • Price: $600– pre order on Amazon (body only).

The second camera is an advanced compact camera with a large (1″) sensor from the G X series which will be the higher end version of the existing G7 X – here are the specs of the G5 X:

  • 20.2 Megapixel 1″  CMOS sensor.
  • 100 to 12,800 ISO (with 25,600 ISO as boost).
  • DIGIC 6 Image Processor.
  • 4.2X Optical Zoom (24-100mm equivalent in 25mm) f/1.8-f/2.8 Lens.
  • 1080p up to 60p video recording.
  • Continuous shooting speed – 5.9fps.
  • 2.36 million dots EVF in the top-middle of the camera.
  • 3″ 180 vari angle touch LCD with 1040k dots.
  • Built in WIFI/NFC.
  • Lots of controls and dials for manual shooting.
  • Price: $800 (available November 2015).

Finally we have the lower end model – the G9 X which will sit under the G7 X model. Here are some specs:

  • 20.2 Megapixel 1″  CMOS sensor.
  • 100 to 12,800 ISO (with 25,600 ISO as boost).
  • DIGIC 6 Image Processor.
  • 3x Optical Zoom (28-80mm equivalent in 25mm) f/2.0-4.9 Lens.
  • 1080p up to 60p video recording.
  • Continuous shooting speed – 6fps.
  • 3″ 180 touch LCD with 1040k dots.
  • Built in WIFI/NFC.
  • Very small and light (similar in size to the Canon PowerShot S120).
  • Price: $530 (available November 2015).

Besides the 3 cameras there is also a new lens for the EOS M line -EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS which will cost $300.
