Sony Announces the A6300 Camera with 4D Focus & 4K Video

Sony introduced today the A6300 – the long awaited replacement for the very popular A6000 mirrorless camera. Besides the A6300 Sony also introduced 3 very interesting FE lenses for the A7 series of cameras (although you will be able to use them of course on any E mount camera as well).

Update: Sony talks to B&H explaining what is behind the A6300 (apparently it is not a replacement for the A6000 but a higher level camera according to Sony).

The new A6300 – same externals very different internals

a6300.0Let’s start with the A6300 – externally it looks very similar to the existing A6000 but it includes a new 24 MP sensor, (not 26 or 28MP like some of the rumors were claiming). It has a completely new AF system which is designed to be very fast and much better at tracking moving subjects like you can see in the demonstrations in the videos below. It also has much better video capabilities which seems to be not that far away (on paper) than the 1D X Mark II announced yesterday (it even has zebras and focus peeking which the Canon is lacking). The really nice thing is that all of this photographic beuty comes at a very low price of $1000 for the body.
