Ubertronix recently released a new smart camera trigger called Strike Finder Touch. This behind the scences look with photographer Chris Reilly is the first look at the unit and a little bit about what it can do.
Lovely as it is Reilly ‘s video doesn’t really tell us a lot about the capabilities of the new trigger. According to Ubertronix the new Strike Finder Touch was redesigned from the ground up compared to the previous Strike Finder trigger: “[we] added key elements such as amplifiers to increase sound sensitivity by up to 50 times, furthermore, we added key features to get the most out of the batteries such as a power save mode and also let you know how much time you have remaining. We also heard that battery type is important so we used 4 AAA batteries to match other devices in the photographer’s camera bag. Another feature we added was a power plug so that when you’re in the studio, you can plug it in to conserve battery life”.

The unit comes with a new touch-screen interface where every sensor has its own screen that lets a photographer adjust different features including delay (down to the millisecond level), sensitivity, exposure, and number of photographs.
Another cool feature is the ability to trigger a intervalometer for creating a timelapse using an event (such as a noise). The device will wake up the camera to signal it to start taking pictures! This will be such a useful feature for so many different photographs from wildlife, lightning, security, and more.
The unit should start shipping next week at a price of just under $350.
