Creating a Dark Film Look in Photoshop

On this video tutorial Aaron Nace from Phlearn demonstrates how to create a dark film look to your images in Photoshop.

We start with a very normal looking image and bring it to a level which looks like a very dark film/sunset look.

We start with levels adjustment layer and we are going to play around with the bottom slider along with the top one to create the film look – keep in mind that the image is going to loose lots of details in this process.

Now we start working on different color channels and the next step Nace show is how you can effect just the skies and add some colors just to the skies using a gradient (there are other methods of course but this is a simple way to do so).

Now, to be honest we are not big fans of this look – but we can see how some people might want to create this type of images – so play around and see if you like the results.
