On this advanced video, Aaron Nace from Phlearn takes a look at how to create a beautiful double exposure image using Photoshop.
In the analog age, double exposure was done using a film camera by taking two different photos on the same piece of film creating what is known as a “double exposure effect”. In the digital age and using Photoshop we have the opion of doing the same thing but with a lot more control.
Nace starts by placing both images on the same canvas (making it larger). The next stage is to decide just how to combine both images (using opacity helps here) and the best option is using blending modes (Nace uses lighten). We highly recommend watching the video understanding blending modes in photoshop if you are unfamiliar with the subject).

Double exposure means making a couple exposure “in camera”. This technique is not double exposure. It would be better titled “layered image”. This is not a double exposure.
You are correct – maybe a better way of putting this would be “double exposure”.
