How to Create Title Screens for Video in Photoshop

On this video tutorial (the forth and last part in a series) Aaron Nace from Phlearn looks at how to create titles, layer effects and layer masks and add effects  into your videos using Adobe Photoshop.

Nace shows how to add a title (actually a logo in this case) and animate it using a layer mask to create an effect where the title appears and than disappears.

In the second part of the video Nace shows how to animate an effect (a drop shadow for a logo in this case). This is done by adding key frames, style and changing the direction of the shadow. You can of course change all sorts of things between the two key frames including strobe, color overlay and many other types of effects/changes.

The final step is rendering and exporting the video (Nace suggest H.264 encoding in most cases), choose the quality and the save location.

This isn’t the first time we look at editing videos in Photoshop – last week we published the first part of this series called The Basics of Editing Video in Photoshop as well as older videos such as  Simple Video Editing in Photoshop with Photoshop senior product manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes a somewhat longer video by  Terry White. If you are a more serious video editor you would probably want to check white’s video – 10 Things Beginners Need to Know about using Premiere Pro CC.
