On this video, portrait photographer Nathaniel Dodson (from the website tutvid), looks at another tool in Photoshop and this time he focuses on the blur tool in Photoshop CC.
The blur tool can be useful for creating some quick and dirty localized blurring. First, make sure you are working on as new layer (you don’t want to work destructively and mess your image). Next choose the right size brush and play with it and maybe change some other brush features so you will get the right result for your image.
Blur isn’t good for just portraits – you can use it for landscape images and basically any type of image that might require some blurring (you can simulate some depth of field blurring but it will probably not look 100% real, still sometimes you just need a quick touch up and the blur tool can do the trick.
