David Hunt is a Linux software engineer by day and an avid DIY amateur by night. Earlier this year he created this very unique project called Macro Pi for a “robotic focus stacking device” which uses motorized macro rail using recycled flatbed scanner and Raspberry Pi software.
Watch the video and if you are feeling the itch to try it yourselves head on to Hunt’s website and read about the entire DIY building process. Do keep in mind that there is at least one commercial focus stacking robot called StackShot which will run you about $525 (which we shall cover soon).
