Cinematography Tips: Breaking Up & Diffusing Light

On this video from Film Riot Ryan Connolly takes a look at direct light vs. diffused light in video production.

Connolly demonstrates how harsh direct light looks and than moves to show a softer light. Of course choosing a light is all about the story you would like to tell. If you are shooting a romantic scene you will probably want to avoid hard light but if you are shooting a horror story – hard light might be just what you are looking for.
