Blueshape PG3000 AC and B-Mount Batteries (IBC 2023) New batteries

During IBC 2023 we had a chance to talk to Pietro Vignali from Blueshape about some of the new products they are working on including a new line of Blueshape  B-mount batteries and a huge AC power station that is slated to arrive early next year and was shown as a prototype at the show.

Blueshape B-mount line

The first products we saw on the Blushape booth this year were the three B-mount batteries. We saw early prototypes in IBC last year but this year they were finished products that will ship in the next few weeks.

There are currently 3 different capacities – 145Wh, 290Wh, and a huge 435Wh. Besides the actual B-mount connection, the most important aspect of these batteries is how robust they are.

All three batteries are IP54 rated and in the design, Blueshape put a great deal of emphasis on making sure that the battery cells will be separated and enclosed inside while the physical lock mechanism of the battery will be outside so that no water could damage the electronics.

Each of the batteries has 2 D-taps and a USB-C PD with up to 65W (20V) of output.

There is another interesting design decision with these new batteries. They have no physical buttons only touch-sensitive ones on the sides which allows the user to dim the LED indicator or even have it appear all the time.

One feature that we didn’t see at IBC but will be included with the new batteries when they are officially announced is a BT transmitter that will allow an app to monitor the battery status of several batteries from a short distance on set.

Besides the three batteries, there will also be models where a B-mount will be attached to the front of the battery allowing users to daisy chain up to 4 batteries, providing more modularity.

Blueshape PG3000 – AC power station

The upcoming B-mount batteries were not the only new products on the Blushape booth this year. One very interesting product currently in the final stages of development is the PG3000. This giant AC power station houses 4000 battery modules and an output of 3000W (with a peak of 5000W).

This unit is extremely rugged with a hard case that is weatherproof and the ability to operate when it is closed (providing power from weatherproof connectors on the side).

Last year we covered during IBC the 700W AC power generator from Blueshape which is already available

the new model is over 4 times more powerful and designed to be used on large productions where a robust consistent output is required.

The PG3000 has wheels and a handle and it weighs in at around 45KG/100lbs. It will fully charge from AC in about 6.5 hours.

Pricing and availability

Pricing is not yet available on the 3 new B-mount batteries (but you can find more info about them on the Blueshape site) and while the PG3000 power station will only be ready in early 2024, the expected price is going to be around $6000.
