LensVid Exclusive: Sony Interview – Photokina 2016 (A99 MKII and more)

During Photokina 2016 we talked to Yann Salmon-Legagneur – the General manager for product marketing in Sony Europe.

In this extensive interview we learned more about the newly released A99 MKII and some of it’s impressive feature set (we also asked about the future of the A mount line). We did try the A99 but just a little bit (we saw the new menu system which now also comes in the A6500 and played with the AF system. The camera itself is exceptionally quick and with the 42MP sensor and the large buffer it is almost unbelievable).

We also discussed the A6300 and some of its drawbacks (this happened a few weeks before the A6500 announcement so it is interesting to hear Legagneur’s answers as he probably knew already what is about to be released). We used the A6300 for the interview and most of the other videos from Photokina  – it worked well but had quite a few drawbacks that we discussed (some were fixed in the A6500 – some were not).

We also talked about the status of the photo world in general and what Sony has been doing to stay on top including bringing more innovation into the market (we were actually quite surprised by the numbers Legagneur mentioned about how successful Sony is in Europe – Canon and Nikon really need to make some changes – and quickly if they want to stay in the game).

This video is just one of the first among over 20 videos and interviews that we took during the show (many more to come in the next days and weeks) and you can find them on our special channel on Youtube and on this link on LensVid.
