On this review photographer Christopher Frost looks at the the new Samyang XP 85mm f/1.2 lens which was announced around Photokina 2016, earlier this year.
Samyang wanted a premium line of lenses and it finally has one with the XP branding. The Samyang XP 85mm f/1.2 is one of the first two lenses of this new line along with the XP 14mm F2.4. We had a look at the lens during Photokina but didn’t really have a chance to test it than.
The second lens in Samynag’s XP line – the XP 14mm f/2.4 as we saw it in Photokina 2016
This relatively quick review takes a look at this lens (which has manual focus – like most Samyang lenses until today) but seems to offer fantastic performance (especially on a full frame body) all around.
We are hoping to give this lens a test ourselves in 2017. The lens is going to be available for purchase very soon (pricing is going to be around 950 Euros – probably around the same in USD).
