Earlier today Sigma introduced the fastest and widest lens in its lineup and at the moment the fastest ultra-wide-angle 14mm on the market – the Sigma 14MM F1.4 DG DN.
Sigma 14MM F1.4 DG DN
Sigma is known for developing unique lenses but with the new 14MM F1.4 DG DN Art lens the company really pushed the limit of what it can do. While the lens is large and fairly bulky at least from early reviews it seems that Sigma did not compromise on image quality and the lens is sharp even wide open (we will be testing it ourselves soon so we can confirm that ourselves).
The lens has a complex optical design with 19 elements in 15 groups including 1 SLD, 3 FLD, and 4 aspherical elements, a fast High-response Linear Actuator for focusing, a rear filter holder (and a lens cap with two filter holder places).
No compromise 14mm f/1.4 – big and bulky but ultra wide and ultra fast
The lens has all the latest buttons and switches you can find on a modern Sigma Art lens (pretty similar to what you can find on the recent Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art that we reviewed here not too long ago). That includes an aperture ring with a de-click mode, a lock for the aperture ring, a focus mode switch, and a new feature – a focus lock which should be very useful to prevent accidental movement of the focus when using MF.

The lens has a dust and splash-resistant structure and a removable tripod collar with an Arca base to support its high weight of close to 1200g.
