How to Color Landscape Photos in Photoshop

On this extensive video tutorial, Aaron Nace from Phlearn demonstrates how to color specific areas in your landscape photo in Adobe Photoshop.

Making landscape image color pop is quite common however the right way is typically not to play with the hue or saturation of the entire image but rather work more locally which is exactly what Nace demonstrates in this video.

Nace suggests working with adjustment layers, for that go to “Layers – New Adjustment Layer – Hue/Saturation” to create a Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer. To select certain colors, click on the drop-down menu that defaults to “Master.” Select the color you would like to edit, then be sure to click on the Eye Dropper to fine tune the color selection. After clicking on the far-left Eye Dropper, click on the color in your image you would like to change/influence.

Do the same for all the areas and colors that you want to change. You can also select an area and do the same for just that area (say the sky) or – like Nace demonstrates using the “Colorize” box in the Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer and play with the color and the amount of saturation – just don’t over do it as it will typically not look natural.

This is not the first video on changing colors Nace published. We have already published here the video: how to change colors in Photoshop which the topic from a somewhat different angle and How to Change the Color of Anything in Photoshop.
