Insta360 GO 3: Hands on Roundup The tiny Insta360 camera just got better

Yesterday, Insta360 announced its latest tiny camera – the Insta360 GO 3 which now includes not only improve 2.7K recording options but also a better slow-motion flip-out screen and allows the user to easily control the camera and view footage without a smartphone.

The new GO 3 is based on the success of the GO 2 but adds several important improvements including better battery life (one of the biggest disadvantages of the GO 2 model) as well as a new Action Pod.

The GO 3 itself is still super tiny at only 35g (or 1.2oz), the unit is magnetic and can be placed on a metal surface or used with special magnetic attachments.

The resolution of the camera has been improved and it is now up to 2.7K @30p or 2560×1440 @50p with 80Mbps bit rate. If you want slow motion it is capable of 1080p @120p and it can also do pre-recording, timelapse, time shift, and loop recording (it can also shoot stills (although at 1:1 ratio you will only get about 6.5MP images).

The Go 3 itself has an internal battery of 310mAh (35m for a full charge) while the Action Pod which is also used as a charge unit has an internal battery of 1270mAh (65m of charge time). A single charge should provide for a 45m recording according to Insta360.

The Go 3 is rated for IPX8 which means that it can be submerged in freshwater (over 1m) for up to 30 minutes (the Action Pod has a lower IPX4 rating).

Another new feature is QuickCapture Voice Control 2.0 which should allow the user to start recording even when the camera is off so that he/she will not miss a second.

The Action Pod now has a 2.2″ flip-up screen so the user can shoot selfies but also control the GO 3 more easily.

Pricing

The Insta360 GO 3 comes in 3 versions with 32GB/64GB and 128GB of memory and are priced between $380-$430 (there are also quite a few optional accessories that are available for the new camera).
