Make Your Own Flexible Light and Mic Stand

On this video, Caleb Pike from DSLR Video Shooter shows how you can create a very versatile, flexible moving stand that can hold both lights, mics and even small cameras.

This is not a true DIY video but it is making a costume made a design that can be very useful. We have been looking at different designs for both fixed and mobile overhead rigs and this is certainly an interesting option.

What you need to make this work is legs – in this case, Pike went with a folding wheeled base stand by Impact. The second part is a RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm – one of the most affordable quality mic arms that will let you 33″ (840mm) horizontal reach and 4.4 lbs or 2 kg of carrying capacity which is not enough for any heavy light but it is enough for most flexible lights FalconEyes RX LED or the Intellytech FL-80 which we reviewed here recently.
