Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 Mark II Lens review

On this review photographer Christopher Frost looks at the Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II Lens by the Chinese manufacturer Mitakon Zhongyi on an Fujifilm X-T2.

The Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-M, Fuji X-mount and Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. It provides extremely bright aperture of f/0.95, is made out of metal and is fully manual.

Wide open it is surprisingly sharp in the center, the corners need some stopping down to be sharp. It is also pretty sharp in close focus (although not fully open). It doesn’t have too much vignetting but it does have some barrel distortion.

On the dowen side it doesn’t come with a hood (although you can of course get one from a 3’rd party manufacturer – and you should becouse of flare), and the aperture ring is smooth so might be a bit better for video (some stills shooters might prefer a click type ring).

As for pricing, the Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II cost $600 on B&H.
