Along with the channel migration, our studio has recently received a wave of fascinating new hardware for upcoming reviews. Here is a quick look at the products we are currently testing and getting ready to put through their paces.
1. Lit Duo 1 Spectrometer / Color Meter

What it is: An advanced, premium color meter/spectrometer designed to measure light quality with high precision.

Key Details: Originally a Kickstarter project that has matured over the past couple of years, the Lit Duo 1 now features comprehensive firmware updates supporting critical advanced color metrics like CRI, TLCI, and SSI. It also boasts a very useful built-in flicker detection feature.

The Competition: While industry-standard meters like the Sekonic C-800 SpectroMaster command a hefty price tag of around $1,900, the Lit Duo 1 comes in at a much more accessible price point of roughly $800, while offering modern app connectivity and wireless features that older legacy meters lack.

2. Maxima Spectra LED Light

What it is: A remarkably compact, robust 200W V-mount LED light from Italian manufacturer Maxima.

Key Details: Despite its small footprint, it punches well above its weight class in light output. It features dual top and bottom cheese plates with 3/8″ and 1/4″ mounting points, an intuitive dual-knob interface with a built-in screen, and a unique power adapter module that mounts like a V-mount battery to supply AC wall power for maximum output modes. It also supports an optional locking Bowens mount adapter alongside its native Profoto mount compatibility.

Field Test: We recently took this light out on location for an interview shoot in northern Israel. Even after taking a hard fall onto hard ground during a gusty wind accident, the light kept working without skipping a beat. The Spectra sells for around 800 Euros (the innovative Bowens adapter sells for another 170 Euros).

3. Kase Revolution Ring & Magnetic Filters

What it is: A clever quick-release filter mounting system and adapter ring designed for lenses with filter threads ranging from 67mm to 82mm.

Key Details: The Revolution Ring allows you to instantly snap magnetic filters (such as NDs and circular polarizers) onto one lens and swap the entire assembly to a second camera body in seconds with a simple push of two buttons.

Build Quality: Compared to older alternatives on the market (such as the HnyQuick system), the Kase Revolution Ring offers vastly superior build quality and a much smoother, frustration-free mechanical operation. The Kase revolution comes in a version with regular filter thread or magnetic ring options, selling for around $60-$85.

4. Saramonic SG-MS1 Dual-Capsule Shotgun Microphone

What it is: A specialized dual-capsule “Mid-Side” (MS) shotgun microphone.

Key Details: Unlike standard directional shotgun mics that focus strictly on your primary subject, the SG-MS1 features two separate capsules. This allows you to capture clean dialog on-axis while simultaneously blending in surrounding ambient sound (such as ocean waves or studio kitchen noises) on a separate channel via its 5-pin XLR to dual 3-pin XLR breakout cable.

Value: At $350, it is significantly more affordable than high-end broadcast MS alternatives (like Sennheiser’s offerings), making it a great niche tool for specialized commercial and run-and-gun audio setups. 5. SmallRig Accessories for DJI Osmo Pocket 4

What it is: SmallRig has a huge modular rigging ecosystem designed to improve ergonomics, stability, and handling for the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 (see here).

Key Details: The SmallRig dual handle NATO cage wraps securely around the camera body, adding dual NATO rails on the sides to mount side handles for a comfortable two-handed grip. This setup transforms the tiny pocket camera into a stable, highly controllable rig for behind-the-scenes (BTS) and active run-and-gun videography. Additional ecosystem accessories include filters, magnetic cages, car stabilizers with electronic suction cups, and more. The NATO dual handle cage sells for $24.
