Welcome to LensVid Talk number 55. Today we are covering a massive and exciting list of new gear announcements: from SunwayFoto’s heavy-duty tabletop tripod and Sony’s groundbreaking compact cinema camera (the FX5) to the new RX10 V bridge camera, high-performance lenses from Sony and Tamron, Sony’s proposed acquisition of Tamron, and some incredible new professional accessories including Hollyland’s Pyro 7 Ultra monitor, Accsoon’s wireless intercom, Saramonic’s wireless XLR transmitter, DJI’s Mic Mini 2S, and Edelkrone’s ultra-portable robotic motion control system. SunwayFoto T3620CM TableTop Tripod
Featured on the desk at the opening of the show, the SunwayFoto T3620CM is a professional, short, heavy-duty carbon fiber tabletop and low-level tripod.
Crafted from high-strength carbon fiber and T6061 aluminum components with CNC machining, the tripod features two leg sections with tube diameters of 32mm and 36mm. Despite its compact and portable design, it boasts an impressive load capacity of up to 40 kg (88.2 lbs). It offers a maximum height of 38 cm (15 inches), can drop as low as 2.9 inches (7.4 cm) for ultra-low angle shots, has a folded length of 27.5 cm (10.8 inches), and weighs just 1.32 kg (2.9 lbs). It also features three adjustable leg angles (23°, 55°, and 85°) and supports switching between a flat platform and a 75mm bowl.

Sony FX5 Cinema Camera & Sunwayfoto Desktop Tripod
Featured on the desk along with the Sunwayfoto desktop tripod, Sony has officially announced the Sony FX5 cinema camera. Built around a 16.6MP full-frame stacked sensor and a powerful BIONZ XR2 processor, the FX5 supports 5K open gate recording and features in-body image stabilization (IBIS), though notably without built-in ND filters.
The FX5 marks Sony’s first compact cinema camera with internal 16-bit X-OCN RAW recording (supporting LT, C1, and C2 variants), enabling stunning 5K 60p Open Gate (3:2) and 5K 120p (16:9) capture. Key hardware highlights include a triple base ISO system, a 3.5-inch 4-axis multi-angle touchscreen, a VENICE-inspired user interface with a Multi-Function Dial, dual CFexpress Type A/SDXC card slots, and an optional XLR-H2 handle with 32-bit float support along with an optional electronic viewfinder (EVF).
Additionally, Sony has announced upcoming firmware 2.0 (slated for August 2027), which will bring 4K 240p X-OCN recording, Open Gate 3:2 recording in XAVC-I, an optimized user interface for vertical shooting, and Frame Grab for still-image extraction.

Sony RX10 V Announced
Sony has expanded its bridge camera lineup with the new Sony RX10 V. Featuring a 1-inch sensor, the camera is equipped with a versatile 24-600mm equivalent ZEISS zoom lens, advanced AI-driven subject recognition autofocus, and lightning-fast 30 fps blackout-free continuous shooting.
On the video front, the RX10 V is fully featured, offering 4K 60p full-width recording, 4K 120p with a crop, 10-bit 4:2:2 All-I recording, S-Cinetone, S-Log3, and native user LUT support.

Sony FE 100-400mm f/5.6-8 OSS
Designed specifically as a lightweight, highly portable alternative for E-mount wildlife and sports shooters, Sony introduced the FE 100-400mm f/5.6-8 OSS super-telephoto zoom lens.
The lens is remarkably compact, weighing just 654 grams and measuring 164.5mm in length while accepting standard 67mm front filters.

Tamron 12-20mm f/2.8
Tamron has introduced the 12-20mm f/2.8 ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for mirrorless systems. Featuring a constant f/2.8 aperture across the zoom range and an optical construction of 17 elements in 12 groups, the lens utilizes rear gel filters.
It is specially optimized for low coma in astrophotography, though testing notes some notable corner sharpness drop-offs at wider focal lengths.

Sony Proposal to Acquire Tamron
In major industry business news, Sony Group has submitted a non-binding preliminary proposal to acquire lens manufacturer Tamron as a wholly-owned subsidiary, building upon its existing 15.35% stake.
Reports indicate an estimated valuation offer of approximately ¥200 billion (approx. $1.22 billion USD), which is currently pending review by a special committee of Tamron outside directors and major stakeholders.

Hollyland Pyro 7 Ultra Monitor
Hollyland has a new (currently still upcoming) wireless monitoring system with the Pyro 7 Ultra; here are some of its main features:

Transmission Range: Increases line-of-sight range up to 4,900 feet (1.5 km) using proprietary TWiFi technology, compared to 1,300 feet on the standard Pyro 7.

Resolution & Frame Rate: Upgrades wireless transmission capability to 4K at up to 30p (whereas the original Pyro 7 transmits up to 1080p).

Latency: Achieves lower latency down to 20ms in Focus Mode, compared to 60ms on the standard Pyro 7.

Accsoon CoMo II Wireless Intercom System
The Accsoon CoMo II is a hub-free, full-duplex DECT wireless intercom headset system designed for real-time group communication supporting up to 9 users (1 host and 8 remote units).
