During IBC 2023 Meike showcased several new lenses from different lines including stills AF lenses for varius mounts and a number of Cine lenses as well as some interesting adapters with optional drop-in filters.
Meike AF Stills lenses
Meike has been manufacturing lenses for around 20 years but only recently it started manufacturing AF lenses for mirrorless cameras.
During IBC 2023 we have seen several AF lenses from the company (designed for stills and hybrid shooters). These include:
- 55mm f/1.4 APS-C for (X-mount – it is possible that there will be other mounts as well). This lens will have 11 elements in 8 groups, 61cm min focus distance, and a front filter thread of 52mm.
- 85mm f/1.4 Full Frame with STM motor (E-mount and Z mount) with 13 elements in 8 groups, 98cm min focus distance, and a 77mm front filter support. There will be black and white versions of this lens (on show the White was for Z-mount).
- 50mm f/1.8 Full Frame (Z-mount, we are not sure about other mounts), with 11 elements in 7 groups and 60cm min focus distance.
- 85mm f/1.8 Full Frame (E-mount) with STM motor, 9 elements in 6 groups an 85cm min focus distance, and a 67mm front filter thread.
One observation about all of these AF lenses is that they are a little large, however, they also feel quite light in the hand (we didn’t get exact weights at the show).
Meike Cine lenses and adapters
Let’s move over to Cine lenses and Meike showed a new ultra wide-angle lens as well as adapters and filters.
- 12mm T2.5 Super 35 (EF Mount), 17 elements in 10 groups, 20cm min focus distance, and 86mm front filter (very long focus throw).
- Adapters between PL and various mounts including L, RF, Z, E, and more. What is special about these adaptors is that they include a drop-in filter.
- Talking about drop-in filters Meike showed in IBC many new adapters including VND, ND, star, rainbow, blue streak, and more.
At the moment we do not have pricing or availability of any of these products but hopefully, more info will be available later this year.
