Saramonic Ultra review
We have been using the Saramonic Ultra wireless mic system for several weeks. We have used it as the backup audio for LensVid Talk for episodes 27 and 28 and we plan to continue using it in the future.
The Saramonic Ultra is one of the most advanced affordable wireless mic systems with 32bit float, internal recording, long-range (with a small antenna), timecode support, auto gain, noise reduction, app support and soon a Sony adapter.
The review is still being finalized and we are waiting to receive the Sony module that will allow the receiver to be connected to the camera without a 3.5mm cable.
Pricing for the Saramonic Ultra is set at $300.

Godox TP4R Pixel Tube Light Review
We recently finished a full review of the Godox TP4R four-foot professional pixel tube light from Godox. We were very impressed by this unit and even more so with the Godox app which makes it even more useful.
You can check our full review of the Godox TP4R here.
Pricing for the TP4R starts at $460.

ARRI ALEXA 265
While the large sensor Alexa 65 has been around since the middle of the last decade, it has been large and heavy and not exactly ideal for more mobile platforms such as drones, gimbals, or cranes. The new Alexa 265 has the same 6.5K (54.12 mm x 25.58 mm sensor) but with a much smaller and lighter “cube” shape body and based on Alexa’s own demo videos it can be used in most types of mobile applications using existing gear.
There is no pricing (or availability) for the 265 which is likely to be a rental-only camera, at least for the time being.

FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA
Fujifilm showcased a prototype of its upcoming GFX ETERNA, the company’s first digital filmmaking camera, featuring a large format 102MP CMOS II HS sensor approximately 1.7 times larger than a 35mm full-frame sensor, combined with the X-Processor 5 high-speed image processing engine. Targeted for release in 2025 it will be an interesting new competitor in the large format Cine market.
At the moment no exact pricing or release date is known but we will keep following this camera here.
More info from the Fujifilm website.
Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive
In 2024 Blackmagic announced the Ursa Cine line including the Ursa Cine immersive. It boasts dual 8160 x 7200 58.7MP sensors capable of capturing 8K stereoscopic 3D images. Designed for Apple Vision Pro, the camera supports Apple Immersive Video, delivering an immersive 180° media format with 16 stops of dynamic range.
The camera itself is equipped with advanced connectivity options, including 12G-SDI, 10G Ethernet, USB-C, and XLR, alongside a fold-out 5″ HDR touchscreen monitor.
The camera should be available soon for around $30K.
ZHIYUN Crane 4E
The ZHIYUN Crane 4E is the latest advanced gimbal from the company. It is a more affordable version of the Crane 4 with a 12-hour battery life, ideal for lighter setups, whereas the Crane 4, though pricier, offers advanced features like a 10W fill light and a balance indicator light, suiting more professional needs.
Pricing is also a big difference with the Crane 4E selling for $500 compared to around $670 for the Crane 4.

The system offers intelligent GainAssist technology, flexible output gain control, and a safety channel to maintain consistent sound levels. One thing that is still missing from this system is noise cancellation which exists on many of the advanced competitor’s models.
Pricing for the RØDE Wireless Go III is set at around $320 for a kit with lav mics.

Sony Airpeak S1 no more
Several years ago Sony introduced their Airpeak S1 in Japan and Europe and about a year later in the U.S.. However, in late 2024, the company announced that it would be discontinuing the Airpeak S1 drone.
Sony did not provide detailed explanations but a few come to mind including the drone’s struggle to capture a significant market share of the market dominated by DJI as well as high production costs.
The drone was also not as competitive technically in terms of flight time (only 22 minutes – about half that of some of DJI’s advanced drones and only 12 minutes with heavy payload).
We feel it’s unlikely that Sony will try to enter the drone market again any time soon.

Now Leica Q3 43 has a new version with a 43 mm f/2 APO-Summicron ASPH lens. All other features are identical to the original version although the price is higher at $6900 (compared to around $6300 for the Q3).
