During IBC 2024, we visited the Ugreen booth and examined the new line of Ugreen NASync units, including 2, 4,6, and 8-bay units and a fast and compact SSD-based NAS as well as the future models with AI technology.

AI – the future of NAS
Besides the six existing models, Ugreen also had on display a new AI-based model scheduled to be released sometime in 2025.
We don’t have a lot of information about this upcoming mode (for example we are not sure if it will include any specific AI hardware – AMD, Intel, and other chip manufacturers do have specific AI chips) but we do know that the AI is going to be used to help costumers search faster and more accurately for files, images and videos inside their NAS.
As far as we know, at the moment there are no NAS units with video AI capabilities, in other words, we don’t know of any AI system that can process a video and extract the correct tags/metadata based on the content on a NAS unit. Such systems do exist as stand-alone services (for example imagination) but it would be nice to see an option built into a NAS, hopefully without extra monthly costs for the user.
