During IBC 2024 we visited the Kinefinity booth and had a chance to check out a prototype of the Kinefinity electronic viewfinder with HDMI connection.
Kinefinity HDMI e-Viewfinder
Kinefinity introduced earlier this year the EAGLE SDI e-Viewfinder, a 0.7″ sized 1080p OLED EVF with low power consumption, fanless design, and an adjustable diopter priced at around $1300.
During IBC we have seen the next version that the company is working on. The next version will not use SDI but instead, an HDMI connection and according to the company will also be powered using USB-C, making it much easier to use especially for smaller run and gun setups using mirrorless cameras.
We suggested to Kinefinity to include an HDMI out as well for those who want to use the viewfinder alongside a monitor or wireless transmitter.
The prototype has an HDMI and two USB-C connections (one for power and one for firmware updates) as well as several buttons and one scroll wheel in the back.
At the moment we don’t have an exact release date and price although based on what we were told the HDMI version should be ready around the end of 2024 or early in 2025 and its price will be the same or lower compared to the SDI version.
