How to Create a Futuristic Looking Eye in Photoshop

On this video tutorial Aaron Nace from Phlearn demonstrates how to create a futuristic looking eye using Adobe Photoshop.

This tutorial is more about styling than retouching, but we still feel that it is interesting enough that both designers and photographers might have something to learn from the creation process. We start with our image of an eye and add a new blank square image (it needs to be a square – no matter what size you go with). The next step is to create some lines on the blank layer in different thicknesses. The next step is to use the filter: distort>polar coordinates which will give you  a round shape from your lines.

There are many interesting other steps but for the most part Nace plays with distort option with some other images and finally he uses some blending modes to get all the pieces he created together in a realistic way.
