On this quick video, Photoshop expert Howard Pinsky shows you how you can take more or less any image you took on your smartphone and improve it (considerably) using Photoshop in a quick and simple way.
Yes, you can edit your mobile images using a mobile app, but if you really want to make them look great – Photoshop and Camera Raw are the best – and you can use them in a quick and easy way as well.
Opening your image in Camera Raw even if you do not have RAW file (which sadly almost no mobile phone has these days) can improve your image a lot more than you might think. The dynamic range might not be as wide as the one you get from a RAW file from a DSLR but in many cases you can still save some information from the shadows and highlights if they are not completely out of range.
In the video Pinsky shows how to improve his iPhone image and you can see how he pulls out details from the dark areas (we would go even further) and how he uses different tools in Camera Raw to reduce noise and take care of specific areas in the image.
