How to Retouch Mature Skin in Photoshop

On this video tutorial Aaron Nace from Phlearn demonstrates how to retouch older/more mature skin in Photoshop.

Nace starts with recovering details from the shadows (in shadows and highlights) as well as a bit more color. Next Nace looks at wrinkles and pores. He uses the spot healing brush tool (with content aware) and start fixing them one by one.

Nace suggest (and we agree) that you should not fix every little wrinkle – the result will not look natural. You can even lower the opacity which might help to make the image even more realistic. Finally Nace adds more color to the face (as older people tend to loose color with age).

We have looked at retouching wrinkles several times in the past including “How to Remove Wrinkles in Photoshop” by Nace himself, “Removing Wrinkles in Photoshop in Under 1 Minute” by Howard Pinsky and “Retouching Photos of elderly People in Photoshop” by Terry White.
