Shooting Shiny Objects: Advanced Dual Flash Technique

Creating the perfect shot of shiny surfaces can be tricky. On this video photographer Karl Taylor together with photographer Urs Recher from broncolor demonstrate a dual flash technique that create amazing results.

When using more than one flash you risk the chance of different light sources interfering with one another and effecting your image. The technique shown on this video is a workaround this problem by using one light and after a few seconds another one in a long exposure setup. You can also do this by combining two different images in post, but this way is faster.

Keep in mind that this will only work for static objects and you won’t be able to shoot a model with a shiny dress with a 6 seconds flash delay and long exposure.
