First Look at the smallHD 703 Bolt Wireless Monitor

SmallHD and Teradek have recently announced that they have joined forces to create a monitor that has very advanced capabilities plus a built-in high-quality wireless option.

The smallHD 700 series monitors are some of the best 7″ displays in their class. The new addition to that family is the 703 Bolt Wireless Monitor. This unit is a 3000nit daylight, viewable monitor with 1920×1080 pixel resolution with 2x SDI, 1x Wireless inputs (and 1 SDI output, there is no HDMI on this monitor and it only goes up to 1080p 60p so no 4K support on this one). It is powered using a V-Mount Battery Plate (we would recommend one of these small V-mount batteries).

The unit has an impressive official range of 300-foot/90m wireless receiver built-in (and it is compatible with Teradek Bolt 500, 1000 and 3000 transmitters). The 703 support LUTs via an SD card, as well as transmitting metadata, timecode, and start/stop flags from certain camera manufacturers.

The 703 Bolt Wireless Monitor is a high-end production level monitor which also comes in a director’s bundle with special handles (that version will set you back around $3700).
