Hands On Look With The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG DN Art

Earlier today Sigma announced a new fast wide-angle prime lens – the 35mm F1.4 DG DN Art for mirrorless Sony e-mount and L mount cameras.

Above you can see a fairly long video Sigma published with Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki who talks about the new lens and some of the innovations introduced into its design.

A new fast wide prime

The new 35mm F1.4 DG DN Art improves the image quality compared to the original 35mm F1.4 DG DN HSM lens (designed for DSLR and later released as an adapted mirrorless lens). The new lens is not just smaller and lighter it also exhibits better corner sharpness according to Sigma.

Other improvements in the new lens compared to the older generation include better handling of chromatic aberration and coma smearing which should make some astrophotographers happy. Sigma also worked hard on reducing ghosting which should improve contrast even when shooting against bright light.

Aperture ring lock.

Pricing and availability

The new Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG DN Art will be priced at $900 starting in March 2021.
