iFootage Anglerfish 200DNA: High Color Accuracy Monolight Another high color accurate iFootage COB light

This week iFootage introduced a new member of its highly color-accurate family of lights – the iFootage Anglerfish 200DNA. This new light has a different design compared to the already announced SL1 220DN with an all-in-one lighting and control design which should make it more travel-friendly and compact.

Back in July 2022, we published an extensive review of the iFootage Anglerfish SL1 60DN one of the first lights announced by iFootage which included the company’s true colors technology which according to iFootage should “capture the complete spectrum of sunlight, seamlessly bridging the blue gap between 450-500nm while eliminating harsh blue highlights between 400-450nm while also elevating red color rendering”.

In our review last year we were able to confirm that the company’s technology indeed reduces the blue light emitted by the LED and produced overall the best color accuracy of any light that we have ever tested (including much more expensive professional lights, a huge achievement for a company only entering the market).

With the Anglerfish 200DNA, iFootage wants to refine its line of lighting products and make an option that will be easier to carry.

Unlike the first generation SL1 220DN, the new 200DNA has no ballast and the entire light (except the power brick) is included within the head itself. The head also includes an OLED screen (instead of the ballast).

The rest of the light seems fairly straightforward with two knobs and an on/off button. It has intelligent active cooling with 3 modes, a weight of around 1.8kg/4lbs, bowens mount, output of 200W with a draw of 230W (official brightness from 1m with a reflector of 39,000 lux), and is daylight only (5600K+/-200K).

The unit can be operated via the iFootage Lumin app and from what we can tell it is AC only and lacks the DMX support of the SL1 220DN.
