Manfrotto New Tripods and Monopods – Photokina 2016

During Photokina 2016 Manfrotto revealed a number of new tripods and monopods and we had a chance to get a demonstration for the company’s tripod product manager who showed us some of the new models.

We are still in the middle of our tripods and heads review series here on LensVid (to be continued soon after we will complete our post Photokina 2016 coverage in a few days) but it was very interesting to see some of the new models Mnafrotto had inline for this year (some of which we might test later on.

We started with the new Befree Live which comes in a kit with a fluid head (this is one of Manfrotto’s most successful tripod series to date and it is a very compact and lightweight tripod which go some improvements recently including hook, improved legs and different colors).

The product that we were most keen to see (and test) was the new Manfrotto monopod series in both carbon fibere and aluminium (3/4/5/ sections) called XPRO monopod + with a new full fluid base with 3D-movement. We actually shot this video and a great part of the show using this monopod which functioned very well (we hope to bring you a full review later this year). We only wish Manfrotto would have included a way to carry it with you using a strap (we DIYed something for Photokina and it actually worked well).

We also saw the new versions of the Manfrotto 190 tripods with twist locks (the original ones have flip locks and are a bit bigger – this model is already on the market for some time now) and TwistGrip – a tiny accessory that help you secure a smartphone to a tripod.

This video is just one of over 20 videos and interviews that we took during the show (many more to come in the next days and weeks) and you can find them on our special channel on Youtube and on this link on LensVid.

Full disclosure: Manforotto was our sponsors for Photokina 2016.
