YC Onion Pineta Peak Photo & Video Tripod (IBC 2023) Fast open tripod

During IBC 2023 YC Onion showcased its brand new PINETA PEAK photo & video tripod. This innovative tripod brings a range of new innovations and we got a glimpse of some of them at the show and also were given a unit to use at the show and review when we return (so stay tuned for that in the next few weeks).

Fast Opening tripod

While at first glance one might dismiss the YC Onion PINETA PEAK as a less expensive copy of the popular (and very expensive) Sachtler flowtech tripod, it is actually much more than that, and YC Onion spent years perfecting this tripod and has around 40 different patents pending for its design (yes, it’s hard to think that so many new things went into this design).

The basic premise of the tripod is fast opening. So each leg has a leaver (which was re-designed and improved in the latest iteration that we received and which will be market from now on) on each leg which when opened will allow for opening the entire tripod.

The tripod has a carrying handle and a 75mm ball connector with a built-in leveling base and an option to receive the Sachtler flowtech unique head. Talking about heads – YC Onion developed its own FH75 head which although not on the level of the flowtech head is bigger than the previous one the company had for the Pineta monopod (we are quite certain that a more advanced head will come at some point in the future as well).

The legs have a huge payload of 35kg, they can go extremely low to the ground and with the extension rod (center column) can be opened as high as 186cm).

We will be reviewing the tripod over the next few weeks and we shall post our findings here on LensVid in the near future.
