Brian Smith: Closeup Portrait Photography

On this short video interview photographer Marc Silber talks to Miami based celebrity portrait Photographer Brian Smith, talking about his work and gear.

Smith’s philosophy when shooting portraits is to get closer to the subject. He uses the 24-70mm over longer ranges which are often used for portraiture (85mm, 135mm or 200mm). Getting closer creates a more intimate connection with the subject which is harder to make when standing further away.
