Amaran Desktop App and Stream Deck Plug-In (IBC 2024) Use your stream deck to change your light setup with one button!

During IBC 2024 we spent some time at the Amaran booth and got a live demo of the new Amaran Desktop app for PC and Mac that allows users to control Amaran and Aputure lights via BT from the computer and even has a plug-in for the very popular stream deck allowing changing complex light setups in a click of a button.

Amaran Desktop App

About a year ago we had a private conversation with a representative from Aputure (Amaran split from Aputure was announced this April and the two companies are still very much connected with the Amaran booth located on the other side of the Aputure booth in IBC this year). One of the things that we asked for at that talk was if Aputure could develop a system that can control its lights using a desktop app – it took several months but earlier this year we finally have exactly that.

Based on the demo that we got, the Amaran desktop app can do exactly what you would expect it to do. It can control individual Amaran or Aputure lights or groups of lights with all of their features (color temp, RGB color, intensity, and effects, pixel effects) and create different scenes so you can easily switch between one lighting scenario and another (fantastic for studios, creators podcasts, etc.).

amaran Controller for Stream Deck

The second huge thing that Amaran announced is the full support for the Stream Deck platform. We have been big supporters of the Elgato (now Corsair) stream deck for many years and have several videos showing how useful they can be for editing and also around the studio.

While Amaran could have just allow for shortcut keys in the software and let the user configure the settings inside the Stream Deck app, it took things a step further with the Amaran controller plug-in for Stream Deck that already has controls for the software making the setup a breeze.

The ability to choose complex lighting setups and with a push of a button on the stream deck turn them on/off and switch between them is a huge selling point in our book for both Amaran and Aputure and we can’t wait to test it ourselves as soon as we get the next batch of lights from the company.

You can download the Amaran Desktop App for free as well as the Amaran Controller plug-in for Stream Deck for free.
