Anton Bauer and VCLX LI 1600 and Eden Battery Packs (IBC 2024) Rugged power

During IBC 2024, Anton Bauer showcased two battery packs, the VCLX LI 1600 and the upcoming EDEN 2500Wh freestanding battery.

Anton Bauer VCLX LI 1600

The first product that was demoed by Anton Bauer at IBC this year was the VCLX LI 1600 battery. This unit is a portable power solution for off-grid productions with 1600Wh capacity (or twice the power of the existing VCLX NM2  while lighter at just 11.5KG/25.5 lbs).

The unit has a multi-voltage output (14.4V, 28V, or 48V) from dual XLR4 outputs and one XLR3, enabling the battery to power cameras, monitors, and professional lighting equipment.

The VCLX LI includes a 2.4″ LCD, smart electronic fuses, and built-in Wi-Fi for easy data management (using the Anton/Bauer Fleet Management software). The battery is durable, IP65-rated, and has an anodized aluminum chassis.

Another important feature that sets the battery apart from other units is noise or rather the lack of any. The VCLX LI is designed without internal chargers, minimizing heat buildup and extending the lifespan of the cells but also without any noisy cooling fans.

The VCLX 2 charger connects magnetically to the battery and uses a smart charge algorithm to charge the unit from 0 to 100% in about 8 hours.

The Anton Bauer VCLX LI 1600 can be purchased for around $4700.

Anton Bauer EDEN 2500Wh

The second battery shown at IBC at the Anton Bauer booth was the Eden. This is a larger and more powerful battery that is still under development. The unit has 2.5kWh Capacity and output, is also silent, and has an IP65 rating. It includes dual AC Outputs (US 2 X 110VAC or UK/EU  2 X 230VAC) as well as 4 USB-C ports (2X 100W and 2x 10W) as well as a screen.

The most interesting aspect from our perspective is the fast charging rate of only 2.5 hours – this should make it stand out when compared to other 2.5Kw units. It can also charge from photovoltaic panels up to 500W.

Official pricing for the Eden has not been disclosed but it should be available in early 2025.
