Motorized Precision EVO Robot Arm

If we had to choose the most exciting accessory product of NAB 2025, it would be the EVO by Motorized Precision. The company is known for its high-end End advanced, large robotic camera systems like the Colossus and Kira, but those are extremely expensive systems that only very few studios can afford.

The EVO is Motorized Precision’s first attempt to enter the much more affordable part of the market, which started to develop in recent years. The EVO has a payload of 11 lbs (5 kg), is only 20 kg in weight, and is highly portable uses 110V/220V power and can be controlled via software, gamepad, or by physically moving the head with your hands (a very unique feature). The EVo can be mounted on a tripod or using a Mitchell mount on any relevant surface.

The price of the Motorized Precision EVO Robot Arm is just under $10K (however, there is a cost for the software, which is sold separately based on the user’s needs).

Tilta Electronic VND, Nucleus-M II follow focus system, & Hydra Alien Mini

Tilta had a lot to show at NAB, including the newly announced electronic VND, the advanced Nucleus-M II Wireless Lens Control System, and the small and compact Hydra Alein mini for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (and other action cameras).

Tilta’s Electronic Variable Neutral Density (e-VND) filter system allows for precise and stepless control of neutral density via electronic adjustment, offering a range of 2 to 7 stops, indicated by an integrated digital display on the filter itself. The e-VND is powered externally through a USB-C port. The anticipated price point for the base unit is expected to be around $400.

The Tilta Nucleus-M II follow focus system, the successor to the original Nucleus-M, introduces several key enhancements. It now supports control of up to four motors simultaneously, enabling wireless adjustment of focus, iris, zoom, and optionally an electronic VND filter when paired with Tilta’s Mirage system. The FIZ hand unit features an updated design with adjustable hand wheel tension, built-in lens mapping for precise motor positioning, and a 2.4″ touchscreen displaying focus distance, iris, and zoom information, as well as an electronic focus marking disk. New wireless motors offer increased torque, a more compact form factor with color-coded LED indicators, and a faster 0.02-second response time due to an updated PID 2.0 algorithm.  Notably, the Nucleus-M II allows for storing and recalling lens data for up to 128 lenses and introduces wireless camera control for adjusting parameters like ISO, white balance, and run/stop on compatible cameras.  Both the hand unit and hand grips are now powered by NP-F550 batteries, offering extended operation times, and the system maintains compatibility with original Nucleus-M components. The ultimate kit, including the hand unit, hand grips, two motors, and accessories, is priced around $1,299 USD.

The Tilta Hydra Alien Mini is a compact and lightweight car mounting system designed for action cameras and smartphones, drawing inspiration from Tilta’s larger Hydra Arm. 1 Constructed from aerospace aluminum alloy, it features a shock-absorbing arm with hydraulic damping for stable footage during vehicle movement. The system supports payloads up to 0.6 kg (1.32 lbs) and offers adjustable positioning via an extender arm. It is available in various kits, with the base “Handheld Kit” priced around $139 USD and the “Ultimate Kit” around $209 USD, which includes an electronic suction cup with a built-in battery for extended operation and real-time pressure monitoring.
