During IBC 2024 we visited the Litepanels booth and had a chance to take a look at the all new Litepanels Astra IP Series including the Astra IP half, Astra IP 1×1 and the large Astra IP 2X1 panels.
Astra IP Series
We have been fans of Litepanels products ever since we reviewed the Litepanels Gemini 1×1 Hard, back in 2021 (that lite is still the main light of our studio kitchen and it is still going strong).
The Astra line was designed for quick setups, on-the-go interviews, and other corporate-style work that requires fast setups with a small team.
Just like the original version, the updated IP series will support V-mount/Gold mount and even a Sony BPU but unlike the existing version, it has an IP65 rating (water resistant and weatherproof) including with an attachment over the battery.
Both the half and 1×1 can be powered by a 10A V-mount battery (or comparable Gold/Sony BPU) and all the three lights are bi-color with a temperature ranging from 2700K to 6500K.
All three units have integrated Bluetooth and can support DMX, RDM (using a separate module). In terms of output, the half will provide 1500lux at 3m, the 1X1 version will provide 3000lux at 3m and the 2×1 will be able to push 5500lux at 3m (all 3 lights have a beam angle of 30 degrees).
Weight is also an important consideration with these types of lights and the half weighs in at only 2.8kg/6.2lbs, the 1X1 4.4kg/9.7lbs and the 2×1 7.8kg or 17.2lbs (all three lights have optional softboxes and grids).
Finally, all three lights are already available for order at $780 (half), $1100 (1×1), and $2100 (for the 2×1).
