How to Photograph and Outline Hair

In this video, photographer Jay P. Morgan from the Slanted Lens take a look at at shooting and editing hair by using Photoshop.

On the first part of the video Morgan demonstrates how he shot two life size white Yetis with lots of hair and how to best light them on a grey background to show the hair in the best possible way.

On the second part of the video Joel Ackerman of Ackermania Creative shows one way of carefully selecting all the fine hair and cropping the Yetis from the background.

We had quite a few videos on hair selections in Photoshop in the past including “Advance Hair Selection Tutorial – Masking Hair In Photoshop” by  Jesús Ramirez, “How To Quickly Remove Stray Hairs in Photoshop” by Michael Woloszynowicz and “How to Make Fine Hair Selections in Photoshop” by Photoshop senior product manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes.

You can find lot more lighting tutorials on our photography lighting section here on LensVid, and you can find all of Jay P. Morgan’s videos here on LensVid on the following link.
