Photographers Tony and Chelsea Northrup recently created a quick paced video showing a very cool DIY ring light.
If you want to create a beautiful catch light there are all sorts of ways including using a commercial ring flash. However there is no reason why you can’t create your own DIY ring light using fluorescent tubes and this is exactly what Tony and Chelsea are doing in this behind the scences video.
The two (with help of some friends and family created different and interesting backgrounds using common materials you can buy at almost any hardware store and used a metal mash to hold the light tubes in a star shape formation creating a beautiful pattern in the eye.
We have covered different types of DIY lighting including a video with several DIY tips, one of them shows how to create a round tube ring light for portrait photography.
