Panasonic FZ1000 – Next Gen Super Zoom Hands On

Earlier today Panasonic announced a new super zoom camera with a large 1″ sensor, 4K video capability and a long (16x) fast lens. This new FZ1000 camera is set to compete directly with the Sony RX10 on the top super zoom slot.

The FZ1000 is a very impressive super-zoom camera and unlike almost all other super-zooms on the market with tiny sensors (except the Sony RX10), it includes a large 1″ sensor but unlike the RX10 it also includes a fairly long zoom – equivalent to 25-400mm (in 35mm; the actual maximum focal length if you were wondering is 146mm). The aperture is also nice – f/2.8-f/4 (although if you are thinking in 35mm equivalent its just f/7.6-f/10.8 while the RX10 is f/7.6 all the way).
