Chris Niccolls from from the Camera Store in Canada took the new FZ1000 large sensor super zoom camera for a spin and got back to report.
What Digital Camera already took the FZ1000 for a quick look which we published here when the camera was first released a few weeks ago, but this video is a much more in-depth review of the camera (this time with a full production version). As it seems Niccolls has very few issues with the camera (a headphone jack could be nice and a few other small things but that’s about it – and for the price, if you are comparing it to the Sony RX10 it seems to have mostly advantages and very few disadvantages).
Here is a reminder of the Panasonic FZ1000 main features:
- 20.1MP 1″ sensor (similar to the Sony RX10/RX100)
- Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 16x zoom lens – 25-400mm f/2.8-4 (35mm Equivalent; 146mm actual focal length).
- 4K video @ 30 fps / 1080p @ 60p and 720p @120p.
- Electronic viewfinder – 2,359k-Dot OLED.
- LCD: 3.0″ 921k articulated.
- WIFI/NFC.
- Sensor based 5 Axis Image Stabilization.
- 49 point fast AF (almost twice as much points as the RX10).
- Continuous shooting speed – 12fps (compared to 10fps of the RX10).
- Price – $900 (on Amazon) – compared to almost $1300 for the RX10.
