Sound Basics for Videos

This video by the basic filmmaker looks at many aspects of sound recording for video including, gear, techniques, editing and more as well as basic mistakes and tips.

Recording sound is a whole world on its own. Lots of videographers invest lots of money in advanced cameras and lenses but forget the sound and sound – especially when there is a person (or more than one) talking is extremely important. It is very easy to mess around the sound recording and very hard to fix bad sound in post – so the biggest take away from this video is to put a lot of emphasis on sound – at least as much as you do on the image quality.

This video covers many topics including microphone distance (with different microphone types), audio recorders, mic types, wireless systems, audio sync in post production, editing sound and more.

On LensVid we have a very extensive section devoted to sound recording for video productions which covers both equipment and techniques here on LensVid.
